Certified organic by Québec Vrai.
A perfectly round root vegetable with a mild, creamy flavor and crisp, yellow flesh. It has a purple and yellow skin. It keeps very well throughout the winter. Ideal for stews or as fries!
Sow in spring or mid-summer to have rutabagas for storage.
Harvest when the roots are between 10 and 20 cm in diameter. The plants reach 50 cm in height.
Outdoor sowing: Sow directly in the ground. 5 mm deep. 5 to 10 cm between seeds. Rutabagas can be sown early in the season, as soon as the risk of frost has passed, or later in July to overwinter. They are quite cold-hardy and even tolerate milder temperatures. Once established, rutabagas can withstand light frosts (0 ° C).
Germination: 7-10 days. Temperature above 5 ° C.
Specifications: You may need to grow rutabagas under netting if flea beetles are very prevalent in your area.
Exposure: Full sun.
Maturity: 100 days.
Origin of the seed: We obtained the first rutabagas from the Beaux-Lieux Gardens.
Open-pollinated seeds grown locally and naturally.
