Sugar Daddy peas
Certified organic by Québec Vrai.
Sweet and tender peas with thin pods. They can be eaten whole, raw or cooked.
The plants are vigorous and productive, in addition to being very pretty when in bloom.
The plants are more compact than sugar snap, ideal for climbing on a trellis in a small garden or in a container.
Harvest when the pods are round and plump . If the pods remain on the plant for too long, the peas will become more fibrous and mushy.
The plants reach 60-90 cm in height.
Outdoor sowing: Sow directly in the ground in spring. 1 cm deep. 3 cm between seeds. Peas can be sown early in the season, as soon as the risk of frost has passed. They are quite cold-hardy.
Germination: 7 days. Temperature above 10 ° C.
Specifications: The plants are climbing, it may be advantageous to put up a small trellis to prevent the peas from trailing on the ground and to facilitate harvesting.
Exposure: Full sun or partial shade.
Watering: In hot weather, frequent watering helps peas stay sweet.
Maturity: 60 days.
Origin of the seed: We obtained the first seeds of this pea from West Coast Seeds. We made a rigorous selection on the first generation and are much more satisfied with the result with this second generation!
