Mizuna
An ideal green for adding flavor to your salads and sandwiches. The green, serrated leaves have a pleasant, delicate, and slightly peppery taste. They can also be steamed or sautéed when mature.
Can be grown in containers and/or indoors all year round.
Cold tolerant.
Harvesting: Harvest young for a more tender taste (when the leaves are 10 cm long)
Outdoor sowing: Sow directly in the ground early in the season, as soon as the risk of frost has passed. Sow 5mm deep and space seeds 5cm apart. It is quite cold-hardy and even appreciates milder temperatures, which delay bolting.
Germination: 5 to 7 days. Temperature above 10 ° C.
Specifications: You may need to grow mizuna under netting if flea beetles are very prevalent in your area.
Exposure: Full sun or partial shade.
Watering: In hot and dry weather, frequent watering helps prevent the mizuna from becoming too prickly.
Maturity: 25 days (baby leaves) 45 days (mature leaves).
Origin of the seed: We obtained the first seeds This mizuna is available at the Shared Gardens. The seeds sold are the first generation grown on the farm.
